Sustainable Sparkle Bar

Sustainable sparkle bar is a divergent brand which sells biodegradable glitter and offers full service of events.

I. OVERVIEW

The Project

The focus of the project was on the unification and clean-up of the brand while also producing a more focused and branded website presence. The brand and the client are well known for their biodegradable and sustainable glitter. Word of mouth has proven most business fruitful for the client. The tone and feel of the final brand solution(s) should resonate feelings of fun, energy, beauty, happiness and joy.

The client’s expectations by the end of this project was to provide her with High fidelity designs for the website (desktop version) including any information on architecture/navigation redesigns. She also requested a Design system (Brand Guide or StyleGuide) that includes documentation on, logo usage, color usage, typography usage and hierarchy etc. Lastly, she wanted a logo designed for her website, if possible.

The Problem

The client was not getting the business success she anticipated when she founded this company with her current website. She was looking for a solution that would help increase the sales of the biodegradable glitter that she sells and increase her bookings at various events. She also wanted to optimize messaging and marketing through her website.

The Solution

The goal was to use bright purple and pink gradient as the primary colors on the website which are vibrant colors, so it’s easy to have the user focus on the important components on the website. Based on user feedback, market research and client’s feedback, the solution was to incorporate high quality professional photography to the website of not only the product but also the product being shown on a model.

A search bar will be added on the top navigation for easy access to different products or colors users are looking for. The use of coupons and discount pop ups throughout the website to help increase the sales. The client is also very active on social media so it was important to highlight her social media feed on the webpage.

II. PROCESS

The Research

My team and I worked together to conduct a thorough research on the competitors (as listed below) that are out there either selling the same product or services to develop our understanding of current market trends. We found out that high quality photography is used by most competitors on their website for visual appeal. Each product being sold is pictured on the same background for consistency. Biodegradable glitter is preferred by consumers because it is eco-friendly.

The Method

Each team member then created their own set of moodboards and style tiles that were presented to the test users and client. We conducted user interviews every week for the 4 weeks we worked on this project and received feedback each time on whatever we were working on at that time.

The Design

Based on user testing, we were able to come up with the design principles we wanted to keep in mind when creating the high fidelity screens and prototype. Each team member worked on their own design for the website and all designs were shown to the client. A design system was created at the end to incorporate all the elements of our designs in one place.

The Logo

Appropriate clear space is equal to half the size of the logo. The Sustainable Sparkle Bar logo should never be scaled smaller than the minimum sizes provided to maintain readability. The logo is shown here in different colors and can be used by Taylor in whichever way she prefers. It can be used on business cards, T-shirts, stickers etc.

The Makeover

Now, I will be showing some before and after images to display how I revamped the website to help my client achieve her goal of reaching business success.

The Challenge

A challenge that the client gave us was to create something on her website that resembles one of those pillows with sequins that changes color After some trial and error, I was able to come up with this and the client plus the users really loved this and thought it was a fun element to add to the website.

III. RESULTS

The Takeaways

Some of the major takeaways from user testings were to make sure that there was enough product detail listed, there were high quality photographs of the product and the product shown on a model. Users really liked a modern look for more mature audience.

Some future recommendations for my client other than getting high quality professional photographs is to consider adding a short video for her home page showing the products and some footage from the events Also, to consider having a mobile version of the website in the near future.

The Outcome

The client was satisfied and happy with the final designs. My team and I have handed over all our deliverables to the client for her to choose whichever design she would like or pick and choose different elements from each design.

The Final Product

Below are some of the screens from my final product and feel free to click on the link below to view the final prototype.
